These are serious projects necessary to improve the life of local communities. They run from 1 week to 1 year, are a lot of fun and an unforgettable way to develop an understanding of cultures outside of your own. There are a huge range of projects and countries from which to choose. Each is carefully selected so that you have an enjoyable and meaningful travel adventure that is safe and free from hassle.
Example projects
Save Turtles in Costa Rica
On this conservation project you rotate between a variety of national parks, wildlife reserves and community-based eco-tourism projects. You will patrol with park rangers and construct national park trails, prepare hatcheries for turtles and conduct nightly beach patrols, and help out with organic farming or work with the local community on education programmes.
Community Work in India
Volunteer in India and get involved in a truly unique experience in the second largest nation on earth. A staggering 25 per cent of the population (around 250 million people) live below the poverty line. Whether it is a community development, education or conservation project you join, volunteering in India will make your visit to India both rewarding and valuable and your time as a volunteer would make a big difference.
Teach English in Sri Lanka
Teachers are needed near Colombo and Kandy at government schools and community centres. Teach English to adults and children, play games, debate and role play. There are also sports, drama, music and informal evening lessons.
